Troy University has announced the hiring of Associate Vice Chancellors for Marketing and Communication and Enrollment Management.

Dr. Blake Bedsole has been named Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management, while Leslie Scrushy, a TROY alumna, will serve as Associate Vice Chancellor for Marketing and Communication. Both positions will become effective Jan. 1.

In addition, the University’s communications divisions, including University Relations, Television, and Radio, will join the Office of Marketing and the Office of Enrollment Management in the Division of Student Services and Administration under the leadership of Senior Vice Chancellor Sohail Agboatwala.

“Both Blake and Leslie bring tremendous experience and proven track records of success to Troy University,” Agboatwala said. “I believe the leadership they provide will be a tremendous asset as we seek to more closely align our communications, marketing and enrollment management efforts to more effectively tell the TROY story and engage with prospective students.”

Bedsole currently serves as the director of admissions at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith. He previously served as the Vice President for Enrollment Management at Arkansas Tech University where he oversaw recruiting, financial aid, marketing and communication.

Bedsole began his career in higher education in 2006 as coordinator of orientation and special events in the University of Alabama’s Office of Enrollment Services and Programs before spending five years as director of admissions and student services in the Manderson Graduate School of Business at the University of Alabama. He would later serve as Director of Enrollment Management for the University of Alabama Graduate School. He also previously served as Director of Admission and Enrollment Management at the University of West Alabama.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology (2003) and a Master of Arts degree in higher education administration (2006) from the University of Alabama. He earned a Doctor of Education degree in higher education management in 2013 from the University of Georgia.

“I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to serve as Troy University’s Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management,” Bedsole said. “TROY provides a wonderful college experience and unlimited opportunities for its students. I look forward to working with the tremendous faculty and staff and becoming a part of the Trojan family.”

Scrushy has more than 25 years of marketing and communication experience and currently serves as the Texas State Chairman for Distinguished Young Women, the nation’s oldest and largest scholarship program for high school girls. She has previously served in marketing and communication leadership roles for various industries including food services, healthcare, and aviation. She has also managed television and publishing operations for a global ministry based in Texas.

Scrushy earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Marketing degree from TROY and was a student recipient of the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award, given annually in recognition of excellence of character, humanitarian service and spiritual qualities.

“I’m honored and grateful for the opportunity to return to my alma mater and join the talented marketing and communications team,” Scrushy said. “An alumna with a daughter on campus as a senior and a son who started his journey as a Trojan in August, I can confidently say that Troy University is a phenomenal choice for higher education. I look forward to sharing the story of our beloved university as we build relationships with students and their families.”
